Explore and align bi-state Brownfield redevelopment strategies that build off existing resources including: vacant land, brownfields, productive reuse examples and identify opportunities for action.
Once the most promising, underutilized sites are identified and the communities are informed on how they can involved in redevelopment, Calumet Collaborative will use its network to develop productive reuse solutions. Productive reuse solutions are innovative and reflect what the communities need most.
Examples could include:
Bringing urban agriculture to food deserts
Bringing clean, renewable energy (like community solar) to communities that have historically struggled to pay electric bills
Bringing green jobs to a region that faces higher unemployment rates
Increasing access to natural and green space for communities that have the least access to recreation opportunities. Increased access to green space improves quality of life and health for residents
