Chloe Gurin-Sands, Board Member

Metropolitan Planning Council
Chloe Gurin-Sands is the Manager of Health Equity and Planning at the Metropolitan Planning Council, where her focus is ensuring that MPC's programs and policies advance individual and population health. Chloe has a special interest in the relationship between health equity and public natural resources such as rivers, water, and green space; and health and climate resilience. Chloe is experienced with health impact review and community health needs assessment and has incorporated those into planning-related projects, such as the integration of health and racial equity measures into a logic scoring preference model for land acquisition.

Before working in urban planning and policy, Chloe was a researcher and teacher for the Intergroup Dialogue programs at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of Michigan. She brings this background in identity-based education into all of her work.

Chloe earned her master’s degree in public health from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). She also serves on the Illinois Environmental Council board and is a Co-Chair of the Partnership for Healthy Chicago.
