Emily Prisuta, Program Coordinator

Emily will be part of the Calumet Collaborative team for ten months as a Program Coordinator, Public Allies AmeriCorps Apprentice. Public Allies is a national movement committed to advancing social justice and equity by engaging and activating the leadership of young people that are interesting in pursuing careers in non-profit organizations.
Emily grew up in northeastern Pennsylvania. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Spanish and completed an MSc in Social and Cultural Anthropology at University College London. She has had a long passion for service and is a member of the community service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega.
She was drawn to Chicago for its diversity and the opportunity to apply knowledge and training within a nonprofit, putting her efforts towards being part of something that has a direct benefit to people in a non-academic fashion.
Along with her position with Calumet Collaborative, she will mentor a group of 8th and 9th grade Chicago Public School students and have further professional development and service opportunities through the Public Allies program.
In her spare time, she enjoys exploring local markets, practicing yoga and doing group exercise classes, reading sci-fi novels and baking.
